The research was presented at the Xinjiang International Forum on Clinical Medicine Development, Urumqi Symposium, Urumqi, China, and published in leading research journals worldwide (i.e., Journal of Nutrition, Diabetic Medicine or Journal of Physiology etc.).

2. MSc in Clinical Dietetics (honours), European University Cyprus

The data of the research dissertation «The implementation of a modern dietary pattern of intermittent fasting, early time-restricted feeding, for optimal weight loss and regulation of metabolism: a systematic review of randomized trials» was published in leading research journals worldwide (i.e.,The Reviews of Diabetic Studies).

3. M.Med.Sci (Master of Medical Science) in Human Nutrition, University of Sheffield Medical School, United Kingdom

The data of the research dissertation «Total fat and fatty acid composition of fish» was presented at the conference of Nutrition Society in London and published in leading research journals (i.e., Proceedings of the Nutrition Society).

The data of the research dissertation «An investigation of the activity of the antioxidant metallo-enzyme catalase, the lipid dependent acetylcholinesterase, and the essential fatty acids in the erythrocytes of the preterm babies. Is there an association with complications of prematurity?» was presented at the conference of Nutrition Society in Glasgow and published in the Proceedings of the Nutrition Society.

1. Other bursaries
In 1995, he was awarded with a work experience internship for research from the Mother & Child Foundation in London, United Kingdom.
He developed analytical methods, such as:

• Chromatography (GC, GC-MS/MS, HPLC, TLC) for analysis of lipids and fatty acids, vitamins and minerals
• VIS/UV mass spectroscopy for the activity of antioxidant enzymes in cases with various clinical conditions, such as diabetes mellitus or premature infants

3. Internships & traineeships in clinical dietetics

He has received three-years of training in Clinical Dietetics at a private Dietetics Unit and the General & Maternity Hospital “Elena Venizelos” (internships), as well as at the General Hospital “Alexandra” having been awarded a traineeship from the European Committee’s Erasmus+ program.

During his placements, he:

• Participated in consultation and intervention sessions in a variety of clinical cases
• Trained in the immunomodulatory nutritional protocol for women with increased natural killer cells and recurrency of miscarriage, and designed lectures (the scientific team received an award from the 3rd Multidisciplinary Congress of Autoimmune Diseases, Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology in Greece, in 2019)

Research

His scientific work at IBCHN (Institute of Brain Chemistry and Human Nutrition), United Kingdom, under the auspices of the world-renowned Professor M.A. Crawford, and publications in prestigious journals worldwide, have contributed to the promotion of maternal health.

The IBCHN Nutrition Centre is one of the pioneers in research on “Maternal Nutrition and Pregnancy Outcome”. Through continuous studies, it demonstrated the role of polyunsaturated omega-6 & -3 fatty acids (ARA, arachidonic acid & DHA, docosahexaenoic acid, respectively) in structure, function and development of the brain and described their involvement in the nutrition of the human fetus (see nutrition services & tools).

As a Researcher in Greece & abroad, he served as:

• A Scientific Advisor in Public Health & Epidemiology, Department of the Medical School of Athens for providing scientific, technical support and helping to maintain professional and credible relationships with key opinion leader
• A Supervisor for providing guidance to research and student’s theses at London Metropolitan University, and training colleagues, fellow scientists/medical doctors and students in laboratory techniques to produce valid research results at IBCHN, United Kingdom
